Band Students Achieve Goal!

                       Congratulations RMS Band Students!

Seven RMS Band Students achieved a tremendous goal this past weekend in auditioning for and being accepted to the Alabama All-State Band and the District 2 All-District Band.  The audition for both ensembles is extremely difficult, requiring students to perform up to 15 scales, read music they've never seen, and play two college-level etudes before a panel of judges.  They do so in competition with other band students from across the whole state of Alabama.  To be selected for the All-State Band is the highest honor a middle school music student can achieve, and this year, RMS had THREE make it:  Jacob Wimpee, tuba, Rachel Reid, French horn, and Kaleigh Wester, clarinet!  Leah Hooks, oboe, and Arianna Nolin, clarinet were also named 1st alternate for the All-State Band.  These five, in addition to Miles Hardy, trombone and Nathan Hodges, trombone, were also selected for the District 2 All-District Band, consisting of the most talented musicians in the northeast region of our state. All seven students will attend the All-District event February 9-10, in Albertville, AL, where they, along with all the other selected students from across the region will spend two days rehearsing together and then performing a concert.  The three who made All-State will experience a similar event April 19-21, in Montgomery, AL, this time with the finest middle school musicians from across the state.

Mrs. Probst, Director of Bands at RMS, said, "In my entire 10-year career, I have never had a more determined, self-disciplined group of students.  There aren't words to describe how proud I am of them."  All of us at Rainbow Middle echo her thoughts.  Well done, students!  We are very proud of you!
