Welcome to 8th grade!  I am looking forward to getting to know you this school year.  I have attached a syllabus to serve as a brief outline of our class for the upcoming year.  A list of materials, class rules and grading policies are listed in the syllabus.  After reviewing, please sign and return the attached form stating that you and your child have read the syllabus.   Please keep this syllabus for future reference.  For classroom updates and assignments please sign in to REMIND or refer to INOW and my teacher webpage.

The study of Honors World History for the 8th grade covers ancient history to the 1500s.  This course covers the migration of early peoples, the rise of civilizations, the establishment of governments and religions, the growth of economic systems, and the ways in which these events shaped Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Americas.  To connect the past to the present, students will also discuss current world events.  Students are encouraged to watch or read about world, national and local news.

Ancient  World History is a fascinating account of the many people and civilizations which have come before us.  My goal for you this school year is that while learning about these people from the past, you are able to learn more about yourself and the world around you.  I hope that you will find history to be one amazing adventure!  So fasten your seat belts and get ready to board the time travel machine that sends you soaring to foreign lands of the mysterious past!

Progress reports will be sent the 4th week of the nine week grading period.   I welcome and encourage your communication.  You may e-mail, message to REMIND or call the office to schedule a parent conference if you have any questions or concerns.  Thank you for your support.  I am looking forward to a wonderful school year!
