7th Advanced Syllabus 2018-2019

7th Grade Advanced Math

Miss Dennis

“Every accomplishment starts with the decision to TRY!”

Welcome to 7th advanced math! This year we will explore math in new and fun ways. This class is a fast track to AP classes in high school. This class will introduce you to basic algebra, geometry, and graphing. It will be tough but I know you can handle it! I am looking forward to a great year!

Materials Needed

* 3 ring binder with pockets

* Paper

* Pencil (all work MUST be done in pencil!)

* Textbook

* Scientific Calculator

Students should come to class with these items every day. Things such as rulers and protractors will be provided. Students will bring their binder every day. Failure to come to class without any of the above items will not be tolerated.

Homework

Homework will be given regularly. I will check for completeness each day. However, students will turn in all homework on test days. They will then be checked for completeness, order, and legibility. This includes showing all of their work. Homework turned in as just a list of answers will NOT be accepted. Students will be responsible for turning in their homework on time. Any late homework will have points counted off. Correct answers are not as important as simply trying! Always try!!

Grading

Students' 9 week grades will be determined by the number of points they receive on the following;

* Homework- 10 points for each assignment

* Math warm ups – 5 points per “warm-up”

* Quizzes – 50 pts each

* Tests – 100 pts each

Classroom Rules

* Be prepared

* Be on time

I am looking forward to a great year! If there is anything you have questions about please feel free to contact me at leah_dennis@ecboe.org or call the school.  The best way to know what is coming is for students to listen in class and write all assignments down in their organized binder.
