Name:Mrs. Sherry Johnson
Subject: Social Studies
Grade: 8th grade
Welcome to 8th grade World History! I have had the pleasure of teaching at Rainbow Middle School for the past 18 years. Before coming to RMS, I  taught for 4 years in Floyd County, Georgia. I graduated from Glencoe High School and attended the University of Alabama at Birmingham where I received a Bachelor of Science degree in Social Sciences Secondary Education.  Later, I returned to graduate school at Jacksonville State University where I received a Masters of Education degree. It is both an honor and a responsibility to be deemed as Highly Qualified to teach 8th grade World History.

I have been married to my high school sweetheart, Cary Johnson for 26 years. We are blessed with two wonderful children. Our son, Tyler, is a junior at Jacksonville State University and is #70 for the Gamecocks football team!  Our daughter, Kaylie, is in the 10th grade at Glencoe High School and plays on the Varsity Volleyball team!  We attend Southside Baptist Church and enjoyed teaching in the youth department for several years.
It is because of many former teachers who greatly influenced my life that I chose to become a teacher!  It is my desire to give back to my students the enthusiasm and passion for learning that I have been given!  My goal for my students is help them see that learning history is very important because by understanding one's past is crucial to making positive decisions for one's future.  My saying in class is, "If you don't know where you have been; how do you know where you are going?"
The study of world history is like being invited to take a trip in a time machine to visit people of the past!  In our journey, we will unlock mysteries, visit ancient lands, meet extraordinary people, and discover how the past connects to present day.  So buckle up and get ready for an amazing ride to the past!

Please contact me by email at or by calling the school office.  I am honored to be your 8th grade world history teacher and look forward to an awesome year!
